Decoiling
Decoiling is the process of unwinding and cutting to length the steel coil.
As the coil is unwound from the parent coil it passes through a levelling machine that flexes the steel through a set of rolls in such a way as to stretch the material beyond its yield point so as to reset the stresses caused during manufacture at the steel mill.
This results in a perfectly flat sheet of steel that is suitable for ‘lights out’ manufacturing.
Our extensive experience of the process ensures that the customers’ requirements are met, every time.
If required we are able to produce the packs of steel sheet whereby each sheet is dropped vertically one on top of the other by means of an electro-magnetic stacking system, thus avoiding any possibility of the sheet surface being damaged.
