Magnelis - Registered Arcelor Mittal Product

BS EN 10346:2015 (DX51D+ZM175)

Magnelis® is a flat carbon steel product coated with a zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy. Using a continuous hot dip galvanising process an alloy composed of 93.5% zinc, 3.5% aluminium and 3% magnesium is applied to both sides. This chemical composition has been chosen to provide the optimum levels of corrosion resistance.

Magnelis® is available in a diverse range of steel grades including structural steels, high-strength, low-alloy steels as well as steels for cold forming and deep drawing applications. Its 3% magnesium content promotes superior corrosion resistance in chloride and ammonia atmospheres as well as self-healing on cut edges. Its high corrosion resistance means that less metallic coating is required leading to a reduction in weight and assisting processes such as welding.

The zinc-rich coating permits all the conventional processing operations possible with standard hot dip galvanised steel such as drawing, bending, profiling, stamping, clinching, welding and more. In addition to these many benefits, Magnelis® coated steel has a lower friction coefficient than standard hot dip galvanised steel and it remains stable throughout forming operations.
